Question: Does wifi need to be enabled for this option to work? It might seem obvious but perhaps not. I've noticed that when my wifi cannot find a saved access point my phone calls through google voice often fail. So I need to turn wifi off when out and about. Would I get the highest accuracy possible when wifi is disabled?

I'm wondering where the date for "released for civilian purposes" came from as Popular Mechanics states for the system being opened to the public. I only questioned this and looked for another source because I recall someone in my family having bought a commercial handheld Magellan GPS receiver back in the late 80s. And if one is referring to the removal of the civilian data fuzzing, that wasn't until Again, according to Popular Mechanics.
I'd provide the article URL, but my account is apparently too new for the stupid forum software to allow me to include a link. Paul, I wasn't necessarily questioning the semantics of "released for civilian purposes" and am aware of the ownership and access issues which you added to the fold. As far as the date, you too have stated it should be in the 80s.
That's the germane piece which I wish the author of the article would address. There are comments dating back to yet somehow the article date currently shows it's only 2 months old.

Maybe someone updated something in the article and bumped the date. Either the original published date should be retained or a separate "updated" date should be added. I also appreciate when a line is added stating what was edited. Check configuration zone of this app, you can change a lot of settings. That's under a FOOT! Thanks, finding out about a add on GPS for my phone was a very big help! Try setting "use GPS only" rather than hi accuracy mode and see if this helps.
I have been having trouble for about a week now and I think this helped. I am wondering if the cell tower data has been compromised.
My Samsung i was able of detecting 13 gps satellites in about 4 seconds,on its peak, it can even detect 21, and use 13 of them at once, and it only needs 4 satellites to get a lock. Now it takes almost a minute to detect 13 satellites, and it wouldn't lock until it detects 17 or something, AND it only uses 5 satellites. Is there any problem s with my GPS? Subscribe to XDA. Developers have exploited the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note 9 to get root access on the Snapdragon models January 31, Unofficial LineageOS Memorigi is a beautiful to-do list app that helps you plan and organize your life January 25, I put a piece of aluminum foil at the contact point and now at last it works properly.
If you want to press the screen without opening it as it is mentioned before, you have to press the top right corner as you look it at the front side in order to force it to make good contact. Now everything works fine, i think the problem is the poor design of the back cover and the way it makes contact with the internal parts. Update: I compared it side by side with a Samsung J5 , Samsung had a lot stronger signal, locked instantly and always had more satellites in use. I ordered copper adhesive tape double side conductive and when i get it i will experiment if i can build an internal antenna in the back cover.
OMG, pressing the top right corner actually works! I was using GPS Toolbox and had 0 signal from all the satellites until i did this, it locked the signal instantly! I guess something got misplaced after a fall. Now it is normal and I get 3D fix. Hello, I had the same problem. After replacing battery the GPS worked horribly.

I removed back cover again, and only erected the tiny pins on the motherboard so that they can better touch the metal tiny sheets on the back cover. I did it manually with a small screwdriver. Now everything is perfect, GPS works excellent!!!
Steve Endor. I still have to monitor my gps for some days to know for sure.
So far so good. Thanks Steve Endor. You are right somehow! I had a P9 with very weak gps signal and in the end Huawei accepted to replace my mainboard and it worked for some weeks and after that problems started again. The problem is the gps antenna connector wich connects the mainboard to the back metal case wich contains antenna.
I opened the phone case and i inserted a piece of metla sheet in between connector and case and now is ok. Anyway, the antenna is still week by design because with phone open i connected a 10cm wire as an antenna and the gps signal was so strong. This test showed me very clear that this smartphone has a taoo small gps antenna.
On road, beetwen high building, under trees but on open roads too, my P9 plus VIE-L09 firmware cB doesn't fix satellites. I read yours experiences and I opened the device and I cleaned the pins sited on the upper left corner which has contact with the metal plate on the gps antenna with a cotton swab and simple liquid for clean glass. At moment of test, I was on balcony on second floor with other two floor upper me and beetwen other buildings.
